More Members = MORE POWER

IPEA is under new management with a new Executive Director and newly elected Officers of the Board of Directors.
It is the feeling of all of us here at IPEA that we need to build our organization to increase our effectiveness, so we will be focusing on our mission. IPEA is truly a three-legged stool. The three legs holding up our Mission are Legislation, Education, and Representation. We need all three legs to be strong and functioning in order to support our Mission.
1. Legislation Program
- Supports legislation in the Idaho legislature that is beneficial to state employees.
- Opposes legislation in the Idaho legislature that is detrimental to state employees.
- Develops proactive legislation to improve benefits and working conditions of state employees.
The Legislation program will be governed by a Legislation Committee. During the session, the committee will be responsible to stay current on activities in the legislature; determine IPEA position on legislation; determine strategy to advance IPEA issues. When the legislature is not in session, this committee will be responsible to review current Idaho law to determine if proactive legislation is justified; write proactive legislation; find sponsors to present proactive legislation.
Where do we go from here?
2. Education Program
Trains IPEA members in:
The governing body of the Education program will be the Education Committee. The Committee will be responsible to determine areas of need for education among members; determine how best to deliver education; vetting candidates for office, plan and implement training sessions; write informative articles for IPEA newsletter.
3. Representation Program
- Provides IPEA members with on-the-job support.
The governing body of the Representation Program will be the Representation Committee. The Representation Committee will advise the Executive Director on proper handling of complaints that come into the office from members facing disciplinary action or who have a work-related problem. The Committee will develop strategies to support IPEA members who have grievances with the State and may represent members at hearings when appropriate and foster a friendly working relationship with Idaho State Dept Directors. This committee will also review current state policies and recommend changes to the Legislative committee.
To effectively manage these programs we will need strong committees made up of volunteers.
Please consider serving on one of our committees.
